Love road trips but hate the planning phase? VayRoute is officially live. Ditch the endless spreadsheets and map tabs, and start planning your next adventure with smart routing, seamless group collaboration, and built-in expense tracking.
If you’re anything like us, you love road trips but absolutely hate the planning phase. Juggling spreadsheets, group chats, budgeting apps, and ten different map tabs just to organize a weekend getaway is exhausting.
We wanted a single place to handle the logistics so we could actually focus on the trip itself. That’s why we built VayRoute, and today, we’re opening it up for everyone to use.
Here is a quick rundown of what you can actually do with it:
Instead of starting from scratch, you just plug in your starting point, your destination, your budget, and the kind of vibe you're going for. Our smart planner builds out a multi-stop route for you.
The best part is how easy it is to tweak. If you look at the route and decide you want something different, just type in a request like "add more nature," "avoid big cities," or "find cheaper stops," and the itinerary updates instantly. (There’s also a "Feeling Lucky" button that will generate a totally random themed trip if you just want to get in the car and drive).
We built a scenic routing option because taking the fastest highway isn't always the point of a road trip. The app actively looks for the more beautiful paths. Once your route is locked in, you can push the whole thing straight to your phone's native navigation app with one click.
We wanted a way to document the actual experience of the trip, not just the GPS coordinates.
We added a feature where you can log your excitement level before you get to a stop, and then log reality once you're there. The app gives you a "Surprise Score" for the places that unexpectedly blew you away. You can drop photos and mood check-ins on the map, and if you're a Pro user, the app will actually compile all of that into a written story of your journey when you get home.
If you're traveling with friends, you can invite them to the itinerary to help plan. You can track all your shared expenses for gas, food, and hotels, and split the costs right there in the app.
It also generates a packing list based on your specific route—so if your itinerary includes a mountain hike, it will remind you to bring your boots. And yes, you can download your trip details for offline use, because you are definitely going to lose cell service at some point.
Setting up an account is completely free and only takes a few seconds. Once you are logged in, you can immediately start building routes, inviting friends, and accessing all the group planning tools.
We also have a Pro tier for the heavy road-trippers that unlocks unlimited smart edits, scenic routing, and the journal narratives.
We’re so excited to finally get this into your hands. Come build a route and let us know where you're heading first!
Happy driving, The VayRoute Team
